Heidi, this is amazing! I’m so glad you included both photos and video because it helped me better understand how it works. (For example, I wasn’t sure how you divided the sections and could easily find them within the notebook until in the video, where you showed the page stickers that reinforce the divider pages.

I’m loving the accumulation that happens in the Done section! That would be so helpful not just for encouragement of all that has gotten done, but also in reflecting at the end of a year and seeing it all in one place.

I’m also really liking the weekly log idea that you’ve included. It makes room for all the things that don’t show up on the sticky notes, rounding out the fullness that is a life.

Thanks so much for sharing this! It’s putting me in a place of real consideration, the hardest part of which is determining the trade-off of letting go of my current planning system. Hmmmmm. 🤔

I love my paper planner!! It would probably be helpful if my husband and I shared a digital calendar, but I just cannot get on board with digital. 😜

I resisted for a long time but it does help when I need to look at his schedule quickly.

Synchronicity strikes again! I intuitively chose three colors to represent three creative focuses for 2024. Kanban is new to me, but am very Intrigued by your color post-it system. It's more about flow and celebrating the process itself. Here's my take on anti-planner: prioritizing Joy across four aspects of life (based on indigenous wisdom). https://heartsquest.substack.com/p/the-joyfinder

Love this article! Made me laugh as I literally received my year planner today and with a 4.5 month old I think the planning gods are laughing at me! I feel inspired to at least try to create some kind of version of this or at least to approach my planner with more creativity and compassion having read this ❤️

Okay, so I have a follow-up question. (Working on my notebook setup right now!) Do you have a place for tasks that recur weekly or monthly? I have certain things I do for home or work that happen every week or every month. I’m trying to figure out what it looks like to use this system when it comes to those items. Feels silly to make tabs for them. 😬

Oh my goodness, just seeing this comment now, Christianne. I have a lot of those recurring tasks and also small things I need to do like call the oil company that I don't really want to clutter up my notebook with either. I use my reminders app really heavily for those. (I actually just deleted 24,000 😳 completed reminders, hoping that would help my app run more smoothly.) Everything from take out the trash to make a doctor's appointment goes in there. But the project stuff goes in my notebook. Hope that helps belatedly!
