Every year I have fun pulling together a gift guide for you. I like discovering new things, but I also like hearing that someone I know and trust legitimately liked something. Maybe you do too. That’s why I go back through my purchases and try to think about what things made a difference in our lives and what brought me joy again and again.
There are no affiliate links here, but I can personally sign off on each and every one of the items on this list, and I hope they make your life a little easier during this extra busy time of year. Maybe even make yourself a matcha latte, so you can slow down and enjoy the experience of finding something delightful. Happy clicking!

Give a Nebula Notebook Subscription
A newsletter subscription is a thoughtful digital gift that’s affordable and lasts all through the year. If you look forward to these emails each week, the holidays are a perfect time to upgrade to a paid subscription to Nebula Notebook, because prices will go up when I add more materials to the paid tier in January.
Contributing financially helps me keep doing this work and makes this community a warm, inviting place for creative mothers to get inspired and meet kindred spirits. Introducing a friend to Nebula Notebook is a meaningful way to support the arts and show the world how much you value creativity and motherhood. And you can always trade notes in the comments or (gasp!) talk IRL about what you saw in the newsletter the same way we do with podcasts and TV shows.
✏️ For $5 a month, paid subscribers get all the Mothers Who Make interviews and weekly Oohs and Aahs—PLUS you get access to practical how-to guides with expert advice on writing children’s books and navigating the publishing process.
💸 You’ll save $10 if you pay for the whole year up front. Yay! And you’ll get access to all the masterclasses when I add them in January.
🙌 Founding members pay $150 a year and are invited to book a FREE 30-MIN COACHING CALL to ask me anything. That’s a $250 value. (Send me a message if you want to set this up as a gift. It’s an amazing way to tell your favorite writer “I believe in you!”)
You can forward this email to give your family a hint, treat yourself, or send a friend a gift subscription. Just click over to the GIFT tab when you’re signing up.
For the Kids…
Cheery pinwheels to hang in the window (We’re on our second set.) ☀️
These super smooth stacking stones that work for all ages 👍
A cape that says there’s no such thing as too much sparkle ✨
Bathbombs that will elevate your next water bin 🌤
A smaller (somehow harder?) pop-it, if last year’s light-up pop-it is old news 🗯
A pack of HEXBUG Nanos AKA my son’s favorite toy right now🪳
Tiny photo albums with your kids’ favorite moments from the year (or every sprinkler you’ve ever seen if you’re like my son) 📙
The coziest washi tape in the world 🍄
A weighted lovey that’s also a heating pad (My son has the smiley face.) 😎
A quiet timer 🙌
The Squishmallows x slime combo you didn’t know you needed 😊
A game that feels like screentime but doesn’t count as screentime (at least in our house) 🧩
Brain Bot cards for your Yoto (My son was almost a Brain Bot for Halloween!) 🤖
A stack of my favorite 2024 picture books like this one, this one, this one, and this Christmas one. (Also don’t miss this new chapter book, this 2023 MG masterpiece, or this 2024 MG wonder. Bog Myrtle is an amazing crossover book that should be on every shelf too.) 📚
Extras!
Custom notebooks from Minted for the teachers, therapists, and other helpers on your list (These make good client gifts too.) 📒
My husband’s favorite super soft sleep shirt 👕
A little Fraggle Rock happiness (They come in adult and kid sizes!) 👩🎤
This book or this one for someone who’s going through a hard time 🪷
The most beautiful box of chocolate for those hard-to-shop-for peeps 🍫
If you’re swimming in LIFE STUFF right now, I totally think it’s ok to make the holidays a little easier on yourself! Just get the same thing (like a hat, a mug, or a fun necklace) for everyone. Choose a theme like coziness and buy some happy socks or a sweater (❣️). I’m also a fan of buying everything from one store, especially one that donates profits to good causes. Or feel free to use my process. Go through your past purchases and order your favorites for anyone you think might appreciate them. Give your brain a break from making decisions and spend some extra time enjoying the twinkle lights—or maybe you’ll even get a little writing done while everyone else is busy shopping!

Nebula Notebook is a place to meet kindred spirits, get inspired, and learn how to find ease and joy in the creative process—even when life is bananas. 🍌🍌🍌
✏️ PS—The fastest way to grow as a writer is to book a manuscript critique or a creative coaching session with an expert. My clients get agents, sell books, and win awards. They also learn how to enjoy the creative process, so they can keep going when life gets hard. 👏
Thank you for recalibrating my Etsy and Amazon account haha
