Quickening: Burning the Evidence
Each month I’m sharing an excerpt from Quickening: The Art of Being a Creative Mother. Inside you’ll find prompts, personal essays, and poems that are designed to help you reconnect with your creative spark. One reader called it “The Artist’s Way for mothers” and I think that’s pretty spot on. All the exercises are super doable, even when life is bananas. The exercise below is from the chapter on quickening your boundaries and protective instincts.
Burn the Evidence
What would you make if you knew that no one would ever see it? Give yourself permission to burn (or at least dramatically trash!) the next thing you make. It could be something that feels too personal to share. Or maybe you tried a new color combination that just doesn’t work. It could be a practice sketch that doesn’t need to find a home in a bigger project. Remember it’s ok to make art casually, and you’re the one who makes the rules.
If you’re inspired by this idea, this book is meant for you. 💛
