Can we all agree the opposite of NaNoWriMo is SlowMoWriMo? I’m pretty sure I just made that up, but it sounds legit!
The idea behind NaNoWriMo is that you can write a novel in a month if you make a plan and block out time. Like if you just get serious about writing, you can cross this thing off your list forever! But even if you can rearrange your life to devote a month to writing, which I definitely cannot, it feels like trying to make art while someone yells, “FOCUS!” at you on repeat.
If that works for you, who am I to stop you?
But if it doesn’t…
I want to invite you to experience SlowMoWriMo.
During SlowMoWriMo we tend to our WIPs, but we also care for our kids, take walks, do client work, and watch funny movies. We celebrate the small wins like naming our main character and figuring out the last line of our book. We set realistic goals and write in 10-minute blocks of time. We take breaks from our work. We enjoy the process. We surprise ourselves. We keep going. We take notes. We give ourselves time to breathe and grow. We cheer each other on while acknowledging how complicated life can be. We form our own community in the comments—asynchronous, wildly creative, wise, and full of magic.

This Week I’m…
Reordering this notebook (Basic but suits my needs perfectly!) ✏️
Liking this designy meditation app for work sprints and stretching 🥰
Nodding along to Megan’s essay in Vogue on why Chappell Roan speaks to her in middle age (You can read her Mothers Who Make interview here.) 👩🎤
Smiling at these witch-paddle pix (Didn’t know this was a thing but doesn’t it look fun?) 🧙♀️
Enjoying Anne Hathaway’s happy walk down memory lane (And just like Anne, you can count on me.) 💃
Finally understanding all the ASMR fuss when I saw these videos 🤩
So glad Michelle Obama is saying what so many of us have been thinking (And Bernie is doing his part too!) 💪💪💪
Nebula Notebook is a place to meet kindred spirits, get inspired, and learn how to find ease and joy in the creative process—even when life is bananas. 🍌🍌🍌
✏️ PS—The fastest way to grow as a writer is to book a manuscript critique or a creative coaching session with an expert. My clients get agents, sell books, and win awards. They also learn how to enjoy the creative process, so they can keep going when life gets hard. 👏
