Fantastic, Heidi! It’s been so clear for some time that this is your passion lane—motherhood and creativity. I’ve watched you speak up on behalf of this for a long time! In other words, this book makes allll the sense in the world to me for you. Cheering you on!
I actually just had one come out this month — May 1st. It's a children's picture book called "Attack of the Monster Pickles!" about a boy afraid to go to sleep at night because of the creepy house noises and how he uses his imagination to overcome his fear. I chose hybrid publishing because my son co-wrote it with me, and I wanted him to have this. (Traditional publishing was taking too long.) I worked with an editor I already knew, who also owns a publishing company. I didn't go the self-publishing route because I wanted expert help, at least this first time. :) But I'm always interested in learning about others' publishing journeys. I have a lot more book ideas. :) And I may try the traditional publishing route again, or I may try self-publishing, depending on the book. Thanks for asking!
That's awesome! Congratulations! I love that you were able to work on it with your son. Picture books require a lot more of an investment in the art and even the printing can be more expensive. I'm glad you found a way to make it work. I have found it really reassuring to know there's more than one way to do it and I'm always fascinated when I hear how others did it too. Thanks for sharing!
Fabulous! I'm extremely interested in the parts on printing and on not using Amazon. Exciting!
Me too! I am figuring it out as I go but I think I have a good plan that doesn’t feel icky or too overwhelming.
This is so exciting, Heidi!!
Thank you, Anna! It’s really exciting to see it coming together. 💛

I will definitely buy the book! Also looking forward to following along with your publishing journey. :)
Thank you, Sarah! That's so good to hear! Are you thinking about publishing your own book one day?
