Meena Harris: Creating in All 360 Degrees
For a moment in time, Meena Harris was best known as Vice President Kamala Harris’ niece, but Meena has made her own name for herself. Inspired by her family’s steadfast focus on social justice, Meena lets her values lead. Dreaming big appears to come naturally to her, turning a simple Maya Angelou inspired t-shirt into a multi-media production company. Some projects, like her picture books, draw on personal experiences. Others, like the Tony-award-winning show Strange Loop, seem to be somewhere between a patronage and a business collaboration. And it all kind of feels like a party.
Meena has modernized activism, using humor to raise awareness and challenge assumptions. She speaks the glossy language of Instagram, but she’s honest about how dire women’s issues are right now. At every step of the way, she has said “I can do this better” and delivered something more ambitious than most people could ever imagine.
